Seiko Prospex challenges every limit with timepieces created to exceed expectations, engineered with superior style and innovative technology for the sea, sky or land. Commemorating the Seiko-supported “Datsun 240Z” Safari car that won the 6,200km East African Safari Rally in 1971, widely regarded as one of the toughest races in the world, this highly collectible Limited Edition is available only in a controlled production run of 2,500 pieces, with the serial number and the Datsun logo showcased on the screwdown caseback. Framed by a countdown timer dial ring that can be utilized to measure the remaining time of a particular event, the black dial features a font and color motif modeled after the original safari car instruments and prominently displays the Datsun logo as well as the word “Speedtimer,” honoring Seiko’s legacy of sports timing. The sporty dial is accented by a red second hand and includes a date calendar and LumiBrite hands and markers for superior visibility in low-light conditions, all topped with a curved sapphire crystal. With an upgraded power reserve of approximately 72 hours, 3 full days, the 24-jewel automatic movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour with manual winding capability. Crafted of stainless steel with super-hard coating, this rugged yet refined watch has a 200 meter water resistance while boasting the slimmest case of any Seiko 6R model. Designed to flow seamlessly from the case to a special punch-pattern strap, sourced from an LWG certified tannery, it is equipped with a secure screwdown crown and tri-fold push button release clasp.
